KlarVPN basics

KlarVPN basics

What is KlarVPN?

KlarVPN is a privacy-focused VPN that routes your internet connection through a dedicated encrypted tunnel. It helps hide your real IP address from websites and networks, protects traffic on public Wi‑Fi, and gives your device a private VPN connection instead of placing you in a crowded shared pool.

How is KlarVPN different from a traditional VPN?

Many VPNs place large numbers of users on the same shared servers. KlarVPN is built around private tunnel access for each account, which keeps the connection cleaner and easier to understand. The app also includes a Transparency Dashboard so users can see account-level session information without exposing browsing activity.

What is a dedicated private tunnel?

A dedicated private tunnel is the encrypted VPN connection created for your account and device. Your device sends traffic through this tunnel before it reaches the internet. The tunnel protects the connection while keeping your browsing activity out of the app’s stored records.

What does Protected mean?

Protected means the VPN tunnel is active. Your traffic is routed through the selected KlarVPN location, and websites should see the VPN IP instead of your regular network IP.

What does Disconnected mean?

Disconnected means the KlarVPN tunnel is not active. Your device is using its normal Wi‑Fi or mobile data connection until you connect again.

Does KlarVPN replace my internet provider?

No. KlarVPN protects and routes your traffic, but your device still needs an internet connection from Wi‑Fi or mobile data to reach the KlarVPN tunnel.

Is KlarVPN free?

Yes. KlarVPN has a Free plan with monthly bandwidth. Users who need more bandwidth can upgrade to Gold or Platinum.

Where do I find help inside the app?

Open the Help tab from the bottom navigation. The Help section includes VPN guidance, troubleshooting, privacy questions, account questions, and legal pages.

Account and login

Account and login

How do I create a KlarVPN account?

Open KlarVPN, choose Create Account or Sign up, enter your email, create a password, confirm the password, and submit the form. After the account is created, continue through the VPN setup screens so the app can create your tunnel.

What should I do if my email is invalid?

Check the spelling and format of the email address. Make sure it includes the correct domain, such as gmail.com, and does not contain extra spaces.

What does account is taken mean?

It means an account already exists with that email. Use Sign in instead. If you do not remember the password, use Forgot password.

How do I sign in?

Open the sign-in screen, enter the email and password for your KlarVPN account, and submit the form. Use the same account on your personal devices so your subscription and tunnel access stay connected to the same profile.

How do I reset a forgotten password?

On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password, enter your email, and use the reset link sent by KlarVPN. Reset links expire after a short time for security.

How do I change my password while signed in?

Open Profile, tap Change Password, enter your current password, enter the new password, confirm it, and tap Update Password.

What if the current password is invalid?

Re-enter the current password carefully. If you cannot remember it, sign out and use Forgot password to reset access.

What if the new password and confirmation do not match?

Re-enter both fields and make sure they are exactly the same. Use the eye icon if you want to check what you typed before submitting again.

What is my account ID used for?

The account ID helps KlarVPN support identify your account without asking for private browsing information. You can copy it from the Profile screen when support requests it.

Can support ask for my password?

No. KlarVPN support should never ask for your password, one-time codes, full payment details, browsing history, DNS query history, or packet contents.

How do I delete my account?

Open the account deletion screen, read what will be deleted, type your account email to confirm, and tap Permanently Delete Account. Account deletion is permanent. Active subscriptions should be cancelled through the store where they were purchased before deleting the account.

How do I connect to KlarVPN?

Open the VPN tab and tap the power button. KlarVPN may request or refresh your tunnel, create private keys, and wait for the tunnel to come online. When the setup finishes, the status changes to Protected.

Why does the app show Requesting tunnel?

The app is asking KlarVPN for a tunnel configuration for the selected location. This is normal during connection setup.

Why does the app show Creating your private keys?

The app is preparing the keys needed for the encrypted tunnel. This can happen on first setup, after profile changes, or when a tunnel is recreated.

Why does the app show Waiting for your tunnel to come online?

The tunnel has been requested and the app is waiting for it to become active. Keep the app open briefly and make sure Wi‑Fi or mobile data is working.

How do I disconnect?

Open the VPN tab and tap the power button again. KlarVPN will disconnect the current tunnel and return the app to the Disconnected state.

What does Cleaning up previous tunnel mean?

KlarVPN is removing or replacing an older tunnel state before starting a fresh connection or finishing a disconnect.

What should I do if connection gets stuck?

Check that the device has internet access, switch between Wi‑Fi and mobile data, choose another location, then try connecting again.

Can KlarVPN reconnect after a network change?

Yes. Network changes can briefly interrupt the tunnel. Reconnect from the VPN tab if the app does not restore the connection automatically.

Servers and locations

Recommended locations

All locations

What is Fastest Location?

Fastest Location automatically chooses a healthy server with the best route from your device. It is usually the easiest option when you do not need a specific country or city.

What is the Recommended tab?

Recommended shows the best locations for quick selection and may include recently used locations. It helps users connect without scanning the full server list.

What is All Locations?

All Locations lists every available KlarVPN exit location. Use it when you want a specific city or country.

What do Good, Ok, and Poor mean?

These labels describe the current quality signal for each location. Good is the strongest choice, Ok can still work but may be slower, and Poor means the location may have higher latency or weaker performance.

Can I search for a location?

Yes. Open the location picker and use the search field to find a country, city, or region.

What happens if I change location while connected?

KlarVPN switches to the new selected location and reconnects the tunnel so the VPN IP can update.

Why does the map show a country and IP address?

The map card shows the visible VPN location and IP information. When connected, this should reflect the VPN exit location rather than your regular network.

Speed and performance

Speed and performance

Why can VPN speed be slower than my normal internet?

A VPN adds an encrypted route between your device and the VPN server. Distance, network congestion, server health, mobile signal, and Wi‑Fi quality can all affect speed.

How do I get the fastest connection?

Use Fastest Location, choose a server closer to your physical location, switch between Wi‑Fi and mobile data, or try another location in the same region.

What does the Speed Test measure?

The Speed Test can show download speed, upload speed, latency, jitter, and packet loss. These values help explain whether the connection is slow, unstable, or dropping packets.

Why does the Speed Test ask to disconnect the VPN?

The test may need to run without the VPN to find the closest test server and compare the base network route. After the test, reconnect the VPN from the prompt or the VPN tab.

What is latency?

Latency is the response time between your device and the server. Higher latency can make browsing, gaming, video calls, and app loading feel slower.

What is jitter?

Jitter is variation in latency. High jitter can make real-time apps feel unstable even when download speed looks acceptable.

What is packet loss?

Packet loss means some network data is not reaching its destination. Even low download speeds can feel usable when packet loss is 0%, while high packet loss can cause broken pages or disconnected calls.

Will KlarVPN work with streaming services?

Most streaming services should work, but some platforms block VPN traffic or specific VPN IPs. Try another KlarVPN location in the same country if a streaming app refuses to load.

App settings and security

App settings and security

Where are KlarVPN settings?

Open Profile from the bottom navigation. Profile includes account status, expiry, email visibility, account ID, subscription management, password changes, auto-connect, and local network access.

What is Auto-connect?

Auto-connect tells KlarVPN to reconnect automatically after device startup or network changes when available. It is designed to reduce the need to reconnect manually.

What does Allow access to devices on local network do?

This setting lets your device stay connected to nearby devices such as printers, smart TVs, or local network tools while the VPN is active.

Does KlarVPN have an Internet Kill Switch?

Yes. The Internet Kill Switch is designed to block internet traffic when the VPN tunnel is interrupted, helping reduce the chance of traffic leaving outside the VPN.

Does KlarVPN protect all apps on my device?

When the VPN is connected, device traffic is routed through the KlarVPN tunnel. Some apps or services may apply their own VPN detection rules.

Can I view technical logs?

Yes. The Logs tab shows technical tunnel events. These logs are for diagnostics and are not browsing history.

Privacy, logs, and transparency

Privacy, logs, and transparency

Does KlarVPN keep browsing logs?

No. KlarVPN does not store the websites you visit, destination IPs, DNS query history, or packet contents as browsing logs.

Can KlarVPN see what websites I visit?

KlarVPN is designed so browsing activity is not stored. The Transparency Dashboard and help content focus on proving that no destinations, DNS queries, or packet contents are kept for sessions.

What does the Transparency Dashboard show?

The Transparency Dashboard shows account-level session information, such as recent sessions and bandwidth. It also shows that traffic logs are not kept.

Does KlarVPN store bandwidth usage?

KlarVPN can show bandwidth usage for plan limits and recent sessions. This is different from storing browsing destinations or packet contents.

Does KlarVPN log DNS queries?

No. KlarVPN does not keep DNS query logs as browsing activity.

What is a DNS leak?

A DNS leak happens when DNS requests leave the VPN tunnel and may reveal visited domains to the network provider.

What is a WebRTC leak?

A WebRTC leak happens when a browser exposes your real IP through peer-to-peer browser APIs.

How do I test for leaks?

While connected to KlarVPN, use the leak test from your device browser. The visible IP and DNS information should match KlarVPN infrastructure.

What diagnostic information can KlarVPN use?

Diagnostic information can include app version, operating system, current tunnel status, selected location, time of failure, and account ID. It should not include passwords, one-time codes, browsing history, DNS query history, or packet contents.

Subscription and billing

What plans does KlarVPN offer?

KlarVPN offers Free, Gold, and Platinum. Free includes monthly bandwidth, Gold includes more monthly bandwidth, and Platinum includes unlimited bandwidth.

How do I upgrade or change my plan?

Open Profile, tap Manage Subscription, then choose Change Plan or Upgrade Plan. Select the plan you want and complete the purchase through the store account shown on your device.

How is my subscription billed?

Subscriptions purchased inside the mobile app are billed through the app store account on the device. Renewals, refunds, payment methods, and cancellations are managed there.

Where do I manage my subscription?

Open Profile > Manage Subscription. The subscription screen shows the current plan, renewal date, billing source, restore purchases option, and plan change options.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Cancel through the store where you purchased the subscription. You keep access until the end of the current billing period, and the plan does not auto-renew after cancellation.

What is Restore purchases?

Restore purchases refreshes the subscription status from the store. Use it if the app does not show your paid plan after purchase, reinstall, or sign-in.

What does Purchase complete, waiting for subscription to sync mean?

The store accepted the purchase, but KlarVPN has not finished refreshing the subscription status. Wait briefly, then use Restore purchases if the plan still does not appear.

Can I use one subscription on multiple devices?

Yes. Sign in with the same KlarVPN account on your personal devices. Each device can receive its own tunnel configuration.

Troubleshooting and support

Troubleshooting and support

What should I try first if KlarVPN will not connect?

Check that Airplane Mode is off, confirm Wi‑Fi or mobile data works by opening a regular website, switch networks, choose another location, then reconnect.

What should I do if KlarVPN connects but websites do not load?

Disconnect and reconnect the tunnel, choose a closer location, switch networks, and run a Speed Test. If only one app fails, that app may be blocking VPN traffic.
