What a KlarVPN connection does
When KlarVPN is connected, your device sends internet traffic through an encrypted KlarVPN tunnel. Websites and services see the VPN location and VPN IP instead of your normal network IP.
KlarVPN uses a private tunnel for your account. The connection process prepares that tunnel, creates the keys needed to secure it, and then routes your traffic through the selected VPN location.
Before you connect Make sure your device has working Wi-Fi or mobile data, you are signed in to KlarVPN, and the app is allowed to create a VPN connection on your device. |
First-time VPN permission
The first time you connect, the device asks whether KlarVPN can create a VPN connection. This permission is required because the operating system controls VPN profiles.
Tap Always allow or the available allow option. If this permission is denied, KlarVPN cannot start the VPN tunnel.

Connect to KlarVPN
Open the VPN tab. If the status reads Disconnected, KlarVPN is not currently routing traffic through the VPN tunnel.
The selected location card shows the VPN location that will be used when you connect. To keep the setup simple, leave the selected location as Fastest Location or the location already selected.
Tap the power button to start the connection.

Connection state: Requesting tunnel
After you tap the power button, KlarVPN starts preparing your private tunnel. The Requesting tunnel status means the app is asking KlarVPN to assign or prepare the tunnel configuration for your account and selected location.
This step should usually pass quickly. Keep the app open and do not turn off Wi-Fi or mobile data while the tunnel is being requested.

Connection state: Creating your private keys
KlarVPN then creates the secure keys used by the encrypted tunnel. These keys are part of what allows the app and tunnel to communicate securely.
This status is normal during setup, after a fresh sign-in, after a tunnel reset, or when KlarVPN needs to create a fresh tunnel configuration.

Connection state: Waiting for the tunnel
Waiting for your tunnel to come online means KlarVPN has the connection details and is waiting for the tunnel to become ready. The app may also show that it is connecting to the selected VPN city or country.
Do not close the app during this step. If your network changes while this is happening, KlarVPN may restart part of the connection process.
Protected state
When the status changes to Protected, KlarVPN is connected. Your traffic is now routed through the encrypted tunnel and the selected VPN location is active.
The map and IP area may update to show the VPN exact location and VPN IP. The location card shows the server or region currently being used.
You can leave KlarVPN running in the background.

What you can do while protected
Browse, use apps, stream, message, and work normally while the VPN is active.
Open Locations if you want to switch to another country or city.
Open Transparency Dashboard if you want to confirm that KlarVPN is not keeping traffic logs for your sessions.
Choosing a good location
Use Fastest Location for the easiest choice.
Choose a nearby country or city when you want lower latency.
Choose another location in the same country if an app or website does not work well on the current server.
Use the signal and quality indicators as a quick guide before switching.
Disconnect from KlarVPN
To stop the VPN connection, return to the VPN tab and tap the power button while KlarVPN is protected.
The status changes to Disconnecting while KlarVPN ends the active VPN session. During this step, the app is stopping the tunnel and returning your device to normal routing.

Connection state: Cleaning up previous tunnel
After disconnecting, KlarVPN may show Cleaning up previous tunnel. This means the app is safely removing the previous tunnel state before returning to the disconnected state or before starting another connection.
This is normal after disconnecting or switching tunnels. Wait for the cleanup to finish before tapping the power button again.

Disconnected after disconnecting
When the status returns to Disconnected, the VPN tunnel is off. Your device is no longer routing traffic through KlarVPN.
If Internet Kill Switch is disabled, your internet will continue to work normally without the VPN. If Internet Kill Switch is enabled, the device may block internet traffic until KlarVPN is connected again.

If the VPN does not connect
Confirm that Wi-Fi or mobile data is working by opening a normal website without the VPN.
Switch networks. Some school, office, hotel, and captive Wi-Fi networks block VPN traffic.
Try Fastest Location or another nearby location.
Disconnect, wait a few seconds, and reconnect.
Sign out and sign back in if the tunnel repeatedly fails to come up.
Send support the time of the failure, device model, operating system version, selected location, and the exact status message you saw. Do not send browsing history or passwords.
