What’s a KlarVPN location means

A location is the place where your encrypted KlarVPN tunnel exits to the internet. When you are protected, websites and apps see the VPN location and VPN IP instead of your normal network IP.

You can let KlarVPN choose a location automatically, or you can manually choose a country or city when you need a specific region.

  • Use Fastest Location for everyday browsing, work, and general privacy.

  • Use a specific country or city when an app, website, or workflow needs traffic to appear from that region.

  • Choose a physically closer location when speed and latency are more important than the region.

Important

The map and IP card can show your real network location while KlarVPN is disconnected. After the status changes to Protected, the visible IP should update to the selected VPN location.

Open the VPN Locations screen

The VPN Locations screen is where you choose a region before connecting or switch regions while already protected.

1. Open the VPN tab.

2. Find the location card under the connection status.

3. Tap Change to open the location picker.

4. Select a location from Recommended, All Locations, Recent Locations, or Search.

A check mark appears beside the currently selected location. If you are disconnected, the new location is selected for the next connection. If you are already protected, KlarVPN starts switching the tunnel to the new location.

Recommended locations

Recommended is the fastest way to choose a server. It highlights KlarVPN locations that should work best from your current network.

Fastest Location is the simplest option. KlarVPN automatically selects a healthy server with the best expected route from your device.

Understand server quality labels

Each location can show a quality label and signal bars. These indicators help users choose a location before running a speed test.

Good: Best expected route and server health. Choose this when available.

Ok: Usable, but may have higher latency or lower speed than Good. Use it when you need that region, or try a closer Good location.

Poor: Weak route, congestion, high latency, or lower expected reliability. Avoid it unless that region is required.

Quality labels are guidance, not a guaranteed speed result. Actual performance can still depend on Wi-Fi strength, mobile data quality, ISP congestion, distance to the VPN location, and the app or website being used.

  • If multiple locations are available, pick Good first.

  • If you need a specific country and it only shows Ok or Poor, try another city in the same country if one is available.

  • If all locations look weak, switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data or try again later.

Choose a specific country or city

All Locations lists every available KlarVPN exit region. Use this tab when you know exactly where you want your VPN traffic to appear from.

Manual location selection is useful for region-specific websites, local search results, testing, travel, or services that expect traffic from a specific country.

1. Open VPN Locations.

2. Tap All Locations.

3. Tap the country or city you want to use.

4. Confirm the check mark moved to the location you selected.

5. Return to the VPN tab and connect, or wait for KlarVPN to reconnect if you were already protected.

The selected location becomes the location KlarVPN uses for the next tunnel. It stays selected until you change it again or choose Fastest Location.

Search for a location

Search is best when the list grows or when you already know the country or city name.

1. Tap the search icon at the top of VPN Locations.

2. Type the country, city, or region name.

3. Tap a result to select it.

4. Tap X to close search and return to the normal locations view.

Search results still show quality labels and signal bars, so you can compare the expected connection quality before selecting.

Recent Locations

Recent Locations saves locations you have used before so you can switch back quickly. New users may see an empty Recent Locations section until they connect through a few regions.

Recent locations are only shortcuts for choosing servers. They are not browsing history and do not show websites or apps visited through the VPN.
